Why luxury vinyl flooring may be the right choice for you

It’s a premium product without the premium price! Luxury vinyl flooring (LVF) has everything a shopper could want, from affordability to easy upkeep and more. This could be your perfect flooring solution, so please continue reading to learn more.

High-end style

With realistic, inspired-by-nature wood, stone, and tile images available in an extensive color palette and pattern connection, we're now seeing this in every room in the house. Photographs are taken with digital photography, so they're clear and vibrant with knots, swirls, grains, and veining variations in view. Colors and patterns seem to pop.

Features like micro beveling and embossing add depth, dimension, and textured appearances, including wire-brushed, hand scraped, weathered, and distressed. Since LVF follows industry trends, you can get anything from gray wood look floors for a farmhouse-style kitchen to marble-like surfaces for the bath. Ceramic tile pieces, which can be mixed and matched, include chevrons, herringbones, filigree, and encaustic-style patterns.

The material can be cut into vinyl plank flooring to mimic hardwood or groutable squares, LVT flooring, to echo stone and wood. Some use plank for stone looks because they feel the large format gives a more continuous look like quarried stone slabs. Still, others think the extra seams add to the realism.

Waterproof durability

When something is waterproof, that means it is impervious to liquid. It's constructed of waterproof materials and has the capability from bottom to top, meaning it can be submerged or spilled on. All vinyl is durable but accurate LVF measures at least 8 to 12--mm and is layered with a top, clear melamine coating that protects the floor from scratches and scuffs. While wear layers come in a range of thicknesses, you may want 20-mils if you're installing in a busy, heavily trafficked room.

Maintenance is easy; sweep daily and mop periodically. Installation, too, is easy and can be a floating floor; there's a locking system similar to tongue and groove; the pieces click together, mat then hovers over the subfloor with no nails or glue. Subfloors need to be clean, dry, and level.
